Bluetooth hints and tips for Windows XP Service Pack 2 - ThinkPad
|
 |
 |
Microsoft Windows XP support for Bluetooth wireless technology was originally provided on ThinkPad computers, in the following ways:
- Windows XP Service Pack 1 plus Microsoft update QFE Q323183. This solution uses the Microsoft QFE Driver for Bluetooth support. This was the default method as shipped.
- Integrated Bluetooth II software. This solution uses the Bluetooth Driver for Bluetooth support. Although the Integrated Bluetooth II software was shipped on the hard drive, the user had to install the driver to make it active.
If you install Windows XP Service Pack 2, it includes native Microsoft Bluetooth drivers that supersede the Microsoft QFE Driver.
The following ThinkPad computers support the native Microsoft Bluetooth driver provided in Windows:
- ThinkPad R40
- ThinkPad R50, R50p
- ThinkPad R51
- ThinkPad T40, T40p, T41, T41p, T42, T42p
- ThinkPad X31
- ThinkPad X40
The following ThinkPad computers do not support the native Microsoft Bluetooth driver included in Windows XP Service Pack 2; therefore, users of these computers cannot use the Bluetooth feature in Windows XP SP2 on the following ThinkPad systems even though Windows XP SP2 may be installed on these systems.
- ThinkPad A31p
- ThinkPad T30
- ThinkPad X23, X24
- ThinkPad X30
This section describes the differences in the user interface between Microsoft Bluetooth Driver and Bluetooth Driver. This information helps you identify which Bluetooth driver is currently installed and how the drivers are identified if you need to change your Bluetooth driver through the Hardware Update Wizard.
