The Embedded Security Subsystem, available on select computers, consists of an integrated security chip and Client Security Software (CSS). Working together, they provide the most secure industry-standard PC.
CSS v5.4x is intended for PCs that are equipped with a TCPA security chip. If installation of v5.4x is attempted on any other computer, an error message will be generated and the installation process will terminate without changing the target system.
IMPORTANT - Some countries have restrictions on the import, possession, use, or re-export of encryption software. BEFORE downloading any encryption software, please check your country's laws, regulations and policies concerning the import, possession, use, and re-export of encryption software, to s ee if this is permitted.
Chinese and Korean Users: The English version of this application has been validated for use with Traditional Chinese and Korean DBCS versions of Windows.

The files on this page support TCPA systems.
The following is a list of non-TCPA systems that will not support this TCPA compliant software:
- ThinkPad A30, A31*, R30, R31, T20, T21, T22, T23, X20, X21, X22, X23, X24
- NetVista (type 2273, 2283, 2292, 6043, 6059, 6274, 6343, 6349, 6350, 6569, 6579, 6596, 6599, 6646, 6647, 6648, 6649, 6650, 6790, 6791, 6792, 6793, 6794, 6795, 6823, 6825, 6841)
- IBM PC300PL (type 6565, 6566, 6584, 6594, 6595)
Note: *Some ThinkPad A31 and A31p systems only support CSS version 5.3. To determine which Thinkpad A31 system you have press F1 during startup when the IBM logo is displayed. The initial BIOS screen will display the BIOS version.
- If the BIOS version begins with 1G then version 5.3 is supported on your system. Click here to download CSS version 5.3.
- If the BIOS version begins with 1N then version 5.4x is supported on your system.

All users who are upgrading from a prior version of FFE to FFE 2.01 should first run the provided utility which will confirm data integrity.
