Monitor file for Windows 7, Vista, XP and 2000 - ThinkPad
Applicable countries and regions
This package installs the software (monitor information file) which defines the following items for ThinkPad LCD.
- Monitor INF (Information file for the maximum resolution and monitor naming)
- Windows ICM (Image Color Management file for ICC Color Profile)

Notes:
- If you use the preload environment, you do not need this package. This package is required when you install Microsft Windows Operating System without the preload image.
- If this package has been installed, updating (overwrite-installing) this package will fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted below.

Installation Instructions

Notes:

  • If you use the preload environment, you do not need this package. This package is required when you install Windows OS without the preload image.
  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.
  • Make sure that the correct video driver is installed prior to installing this file.
Manual Install
Windows 7
  1. Extract this package to your hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MONITOR.
  2. Right-click on the desktop then select Screen resolution.
  3. Click Advanced Settings.
  4. Select the Monitor tab.
  5. Click Properties.
  6. Select the Driver tab then click Update Driver.
  7. Select Browse my computer for driver software.
  8. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  9. Click Have Disk.
  10. Specify path to this monitor INF then click Open.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MONITOR
  11. Click OK.
  12. Confirm the correct display type, then click Next.
  13. Windows has finished installing. Click Close.
  14. Click Close for Display Propertries.
  15. Click OK for the Monitor tab.
  16. Click OK for the Display Settings.
Windows Vista
  1. Extract this package to your hard drive.
    The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MONITOR
  2. Right-click on the desktop and select Personalize.
  3. Select Display Settings.
  4. Click Advanced Settings.
  5. Select the Monitor tab.
  6. Click Properties.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Select the Driver tab, then click Update Driver.
  9. Select Browse my computer for driver software.
  10. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  11. Click Have Disk.
  12. Specify the path to the monitor INF file, then click Open.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MONITOR
  13. Click OK.
  14. Confirm the correct display type, then click Next.
  15. Windows has finished installing. Click Close.
  16. Click Close for Display Properties.
  17. Click OK in the Monitor tab.
  18. Click OK in the Display Settings.
Windows XP
  1. Extract this package to your hard drive.
  2. Right-click the desktop and select Properties from the pop up menu to open Display Properties.
  3. Select the Settings tab.
  4. Click the Advanced button.
  5. Select the Monitor tab.
  6. Select Plug and Play Monitor from monitor type list.
  7. Click the Properties button.
  8. Select the Driver tab and click the Update Driver button.
  9. "Hardware Update wizard" starts. Select No, not this time for Windows Update connection and click the Next.
  10. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click the Next button.
  11. Select Don't search, I will chose the driver to install and click the Next button.
  12. Click the Have Disk button.
  13. Click the Browse button then specify location directory and select TPLCD.INF file.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MONITOR
  14. Click OK.
  15. System will show ThinkPad Display. Click Next. System will copy ThinkPad Monitor INF file and color profile.
  16. Click Finish, then click Close.
  17. Click the Color Management tab.
  18. Click the Add button.
  19. Select color profile (*.ICM) and click the Add button.
  20. Click the OK button.
  21. Close the Display Properties.
Windows 2000
  1. Extract this package to your hard drive.
  2. Right-click the desktop and select Properties from the pop up menu.
  3. Select the Settings tab.
  4. Click the Advanced button.
  5. Select the Monitor tab.
  6. Select Plug and Play Monitor from monitor type list.
  7. Click the Properties button.
  8. Select the Driver tab and click the Update Driver button, then "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" starts.
  9. Click the Next button.
  10. Select Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver and click the Next button.
  11. Click the Have Disk button.
  12. Click the Browse button then specify location directory and select TPLCD.INF file.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MONITOR.
  13. Click OK.
  14. Select ThinkPad Display that you use from the models list and click Next.
  15. Click Next. System will copy monitor INF file and color profile.
  16. Click Finish, then click Close.
  17. Click the Color Management tab.
  18. Click the Add button.
  19. Select color profile (*.ICM) and click the Add button..
  20. Click the OK button.
  21. Close the Display Properties.

Unattended Install

Note: This is for system administrators' use only.

Windows XP
  1. Create or Add the following lines under the [Unattended] section in an Unattend.txt.
    • OemPnPDriversPath="folder for ICC Color Profile"
      For example, OemPnPDriversPath="DRIVERS\OTHER"
  2. Create the folder with the name of "folder for ICC Color Profile".
    For example,
    c:\DRIVERS\OTHER
  3. Put all the files in the folder created above. Files are:
    • TPLCD.INF
    • TPLCD.ICM
    • TPLCD60.ICM
    • TPLCD95.ICM
    • TPLCD100.ICM
    • TPFLX.ICM
    • TPMB60.ICM
    • TPMB72.ICM
    • TPLCD.CAT
Windows 2000
  1. Create or Add the following lines under the [Unattended] section in an Unattend.txt.
