Backup battery installation movie

Text of the audio portion of this movie

To remove the backup battery:

  1. Remove the battery pack:
    1. Turn the computer off.
    2. Disconnect the AC adapter and all cables from the computer.
    3. Close the computer display and turn the computer over.
    4. Slide and hold the battery latch in the unlock position.
    5. Grasp the battery pack and pull it out of the system.
      Here is a closer look at a battery pack latch.
  2. Remove the palm rest:
    1. Remove the four screws from the bottom of the system.
    2. Turn the system over.
    3. Open the display cover.
    4. Insert a probe into one side of the palm rest and pry up to release the latches on the outer edge of the palm rest, then pull up on the center to release the remaining latches along the back and sides.
    5. Push forward to release the latches along the front edge.
    6. Lift the palm rest up to gain access to the cables.
    7. Disconnect the finger print reader and UltraNav pad cable.
    8. Place the palm rest aside
  3. Remove the keyboard:
    1. Turn the system over.
    2. Remove the single screw from the rear.
    3. Turn the system over.
    4. Open the cover.
    5. Lift the keyboard to access to the cable.
    6. Disconnect the cable and place the keyboard aside
  4. Remove the backup battery:
    1. Peel the tape securing the battery in the base.
    2. Disconnect the cable and lift it off.
