1 Standby status
Standby status
  • Green: The computer is in standby mode.
  • Blinking green: The computer is entering standby or hibernation mode, or is resuming normal operation.
2 Status of ac power

  • Green: The ac adapter is connected and the computer is operating on ac power. If a battery is installed on the computer, it is charged when this indicator is green.
  • Off: The computer is operating on battery power.
3 Battery status
Battery status
  • Green: The battery has more than 20% charge.
  • Orange: The battery has between 5% and 20% charge.
  • Fast blinking orange: The battery has less than 5% charge. If this indicator is blinking slowly, the battery is being charged. When the battery reaches 80% charge, the blinking stops.
If your computer is shipped with a wireless WAN feature, a Bluetooth feature, and a wireless LAN feature, you can use the following indicators:

  • Green: The wireless WAN feature is on, and the radio link is ready for use.
  • Blinking green: Data is being transmitted.

  • Green: The Bluetooth feature is on, and the radio link is ready for use.
  • Blinking green: Data is being transmitted.
6 Wireless LAN status

  • Green: The wireless LAN feature (the IEEE 802.11 standard) is on, and the radio link is ready for use.
  • Blinking green: Data is being transmitted.

System-status indicators
Your computer has system-status indicators. The following shows the location and the meaning of each indicator.

1 Numeric lock
Numeric lock
The numeric keypad on the keyboard is enabled. To enable or disable the keypad, press and hold the Shift key or Fn key, and press the NmLk (ScrLk) key.
2 Caps lock
Caps lock
Caps Lock mode is enabled. You can enter all alphabetic characters (A-Z) in uppercase without pressing the Shift key. To enable or disable Caps Lock mode, press the Caps Lock key.
3 Device access
Device access
A hard disk drive or an optional drive, such as a drive in the Ultrabay Enhanced, is being used to read or write data. When this indicator is blinking, do not put the computer into standby mode, remove the device from the bay, or turn off the computer.
4 Power on
Power on
The computer is on and ready to use. This indicator stays lit whenever the computer is on and is not lit when the computer is in standby mode.
