Summary of Changes

Version 12.05.0000 (6QWC03WW)

  • (New) Added support for ThinkPad L410, L510, SL410, SL510.

Installation Instructions

Note:

  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.
Manual Install

This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Explorer.

[Downloading files]

  1. Click once on the underlined file name with the left mouse button. Once this is done, a pop-up window will appear.
  2. In this pop-up window, choose (using the left mouse button) the directory you would like to download the file to and click the Save button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete without your assistance.
  3. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.
  4. After being downloaded, the file will need to be extracted.

[Extracting files]

  1. Locate the directory where the file was downloaded.
  2. Locate the file that was just downloaded and double click it using the left mouse button.
  3. The file will begin to extract in the directory where the downloaded file is located.

[Install files]

  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Open an Explorer and locate the directory where the files were extracted.
  3. Double-click Autorun.EXE.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
    Note: If you use ThinkVantage Access Connections, Intel PROSet/Wireless component needs to be installed as pre-selected during the above procedure.
  5. Restart the computer.

Finally delete the file saved in the step 2.

Unattended Install

Note: This is for system administrators' use only.

  • Refer to the "Manual Install" section, and download and expand the files.
  • At the command line, execute Autorun.EXE with the /QN option.
    Example:
    C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLANINT\Autorun /QN

 

Uninstallation Instructions

Note:

If winlogon.exe error or any problem occurs after uninstalling the software, re-install any version of the software for problem solving.

Manual Uninstall
  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Double-click Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software.
  5. Click Next, select Remove, and then follow the instructions.

Or

  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, then click Run.
  3. In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLANINT\Autorun.EXE and click OK to start the installation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead.
  4. Click Next, select Remove, and then follow the instructions.
Manual Unattended Uninstall

Note: This is for system administrators' use only.

  • Refer to the "Manual Install" section, and download and expand the files.
  • At the command line, execute Autorun.EXE with the /QUIET /UNINSTALL option.
    Example:
    C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLANINT\Autorun /QUIET /UNINSTALL

 

Determining which version is installed

To check the version of software, please perform the following steps.

[Wireless LAN driver]

  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, then click Performance and Maintenance.
  2. Click System, click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager.
  3. Double-click Network adapters.
  4. Double-click Intel® WiFi Link 1000.
  5. Click the Driver tab. The version and date of the driver are displayed.

[Package]

  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Add or Remove programs.
  3. Select Intel® PROSet/Wireless WIFI Software.
  4. Click Click here for support information. The Version will be displayed.

The following versions have been released to date.

Known Issues and Solutions
  • ThinkVantage Access Connections will not work if Windows XP Software Network Bridge connection is created.
    To recover the ThinkVantage Access Connections function:
    1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges.
    2. Click Start, select Settings, click Control Panel, then click Network Connections.
    3. Confirm that the following Device Name belongs to Network Bridge.
      Intel® WiFi Link 1000
    4. Right-click its "Name" (Wireless Network Connection).
    5. Click Remove from Bridge.
    6. Confirm that it belongs to LAN or High-Speed Internet.
    7. Right-click its Name again and click Properties.
    8. The "Wireless Network connection Properties" tab will open and under the General tab, Check at WLAN Transport.
    9. Restart the system.
  • Installing and deleting server/client certificate may not take effect immediately. To recover, restart the system.
