Note: Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 or 2.0 is required for ThinkVantage System Update to work properly. Systems with Microsoft Windows XP should already have the .NET Framework installed.
In the left-hand menu, under Select by Type, click Software, Optional.
Click the check box next to Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 or Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0. (If a specific version does not appear in the list, it may already be installed on your system.)
Click Review and install updates.
Click the Install Updates button.
The ThinkVantage System Update™ tool helps you reduce the time, effort, and expense required to support and maintain the latest drivers, BIOS, and other ThinkVantage applications for Think or Lenovo systems. It enables you to get the latest updates from the Lenovo support site, or to automatically schedule your system to be updated.
New features include Active Directory-based customization and policy support, improved ease of use, command line interface, and custom repository support. These new features are complemented with two administrative tools, Package Builder and Update Retriever.
Package Builder is used to modify and create custom install update packages compatible with System Update.
Update Retriever is used to create and manage a customer's local repository. It is also used to import packages created using Package Builder and to retrieve Lenovo packages from the Lenovo support site.
An administrative version of ThinkVantage System Update is available for download from the New Administrator Tools page.
