At a glance
The ZIP 100MB IDE Internal Drive offers the capability of storing 100MB of data on a removable data diskette. It can be used in combination with, or in place of, the 1.44MB diskette drive that is currently installed in commercial desktop computer systems.
The ZIP 100MB IDE Internal Drive:
- Provides the standard IDE configuration options of connection as a master or slave device
- Supports automatic configuration when installed in host systems provided with a Cable Select ATA interface cable
- Supports 16-bit data transfers, allowing high data transfer rates of up to 1.4MB/sec
The ZIP 100MB IDE Internal Drive automatically certifies the removable data disk media during the formatting process by providing information such as:
- Specific disk configurations
- Diagnostic results
- Logical block information
The drive can be operated in either a horizontal or vertical position and can function in locations where space is at a premium, necessitating non-standard device orientation. It uses a power down sleep mode to reduce unnecessary electrical power drain. It can also be configured to function as the Drive A: diskette drive for the system, providing the capability for system boot up from the drive.
