This package enables hot insertion-removal of PC Cards on SelectaDock I or SelectaDockII under the Microsoft Windows 98 environment.

The following models are supported:
- ThinkPad 600, 600E, 600X
- ThinkPad 770, 770E, 770ED, 770X, 770Z

Who needs to install the PC Card Feature for SelectaDock I-II ?
- Windows 95 OSR2 and Windows 98 does not support PC Card slot in SelectaDock I-II. This driver enables you to use the PC Card slot under Windows 95 OSR2 and Windows 98.

NOTE: This driver will now automatically extract to your hard disk drive. It will only extract under Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, and Microsoft Windows NT. The extraction process will NOT work with any other operating system.

Summary of changes
Version 1.01

  • (Fix) At installation time of this driver, a meaningless operation was required.

Version 1.04

  • (New) Support ThinkPad 600X.
  • (New) Support Windows 95 OSR2.

Installation procedure

  1. Start Windows 95/98.
  2. Extract the drivers onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  4. Open Add New Hardware and click Next twice.
  5. If Windows 98 shows device list, select No and click Next.
  6. Select No and click Next since this driver should be manually installed.
  7. Select System devices and click Next.
  8. Click Have Disk ....
  9. Open the directory that this package is extracted. Default path is C:\DRIVERS\W9X\PCCARD
  10. Windows shows this driver name PC Card Feature for SelectaDock I/II. Then click Next.
  11. Follow the messages on the screen and when prompted, reboot the system.

Uninstallation procedure

  1. Make sure all of PC Cards are removed from PC Card slots on system and docking station.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Open the System icon and click the Device Manager tab.
  4. Expand the System section and select PC Card Feature for SelectaDock I/II.
  5. Click the Remove button.
  6. Reboot the system.

What files are contained in this package ?

  • tpssctrl.vxd - The driver.
  • ibmtphw.inf - An INF file needed to install this driver.

Known Limitations
  1. CardBus cards do not work in SelectaDock I/II.
  2. IRQ 3 and 4 are not usable for PC Cards in SelectaDock I/II.
  3. RI resume is not supported in SelectaDock I/II.
  4. Unattended install is not supported.
  5. Hot/Warm undock is not supported. You should shut down the system, when you remove the system from SelectaDock I/II.
  6. Suspend/Hibernation is not supported. You should not enable suspend or hibernation with SelectaDock I/II. (Keep Suspend/Hibernate while docked is unchecked in ThinkPad Utility.)


How to determine what version is installed

  1. Open Device Manager
  2. Click System Devices and select PC Card Feature for SelectaDock I/II, then double-click it. The PC Card Feature for SelectaDock I/II Properties window appears.
  3. Click the Driver tab.
  4. Check Date : field.
