A separate package is required to enable the Ethernet function of the "10/100 Ethernet Mini PCI Adapter with 56K Modem (3Com)".

- (Fix) Fix for modem negotiation issue with Intel Mini PCI modem.

- (Fix) Fix for low modem connect speeds.
- The modem has native XP support and will automatically install the native drivers. To install an updated driver proceed to step 2.
- Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, then click Run.
- In the Open field, type C:\DRIVERS\WXP\MODEM\MDMSETUP\SETUP.EXE and click OK. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
- Click the Next button at the Welcome dialog screen.
- Click Start, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System tab.
- Select the Hardware tab.
- Click the Device Manager tab.
- Click the + next to Modem.
- Right-click the 3Com 56K V.90 Mini PCI modem and select properties.
- Select the Driver tab and click the Update Driver button.
- Select Install from a list or specific location (advanced) and click the Next button.
- Select Include this location in the search, type c:\windows\options\cabs in the dialog box, and click Next.
- Click Finish. The modem is now installed.
- Open Control Panel.
- Open Add/Remove Programs.
- Scroll through the list of software to find the 3Com Modem Driver. Select it, then click Remove.
- Start Windows XP
- Click Start, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Phone and Modem Options icon.
- Select the Modems tab.
- Select the 3Com Mini PCI 56K Modem and click the Properties button.
- Select the Diagnostics tab.
- Click the Query Modem button.
- Scroll down to where the ATI7 command is displayed. The driver version will be displayed.
