AMR Modem driver (CDC) for Windows 98 - ThinkPad R30

This package provides the CDC modem driver for Microsoft Windows 98.
This package enables or updates the modem function of the following ThinkPad computers:

- ThinkPad R30 *1

Note: *1 If your ThinkPad R30 is the Ethernet Wireless integrated model, use "ThinkPad R30
Modem driver IV for Windows 98" instead of this package.
This program is language independent and can be used with any language system.

I. Summary of changes
Version 3.1.96

  • (New) Support for ThinkPad R30

Version 3.1.97

  • (Fix) Enumerate ID change.
    NOTE : If you install the new audio driver (version 5.12.01.5260), you need to install this modem driver. If you are using the system without any problem and have not installed the audio driver (version 5.12.01.5260),then you do not need to install this modem driver.

Version 3.1.97b

  • (Fix) Modem may not work with a certain audio driver.
    NOTE: If you install the new audio driver (version 5.12.01.5261), you need to install this modem driver. If you are using the system without any problem and have not installed the audio driver (version 5.12.01.5261), you do not need to install this modem driver (version 3.1.97b).

II. Installation instructions
NOTE: If the audio driver has not been installed on the system, install the audio driver prior to the modem driver.

  1. Start Windows 98.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, then click Run.
  4. Type C:\DRIVERS\W98\MODEM\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. Restart the system for the driver to take effect.

III. Determining which version is installed

  1. Start Windows 98.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the System icon.
  4. Click the Device Manager tab.
  5. Expand the Modem section.
  6. Select Lucent Technologies Soft Modem AMR and click Properties.
  7. Click the Driver tab.
  8. Click Driver File Details.
  9. Highlight the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\LTSM.VXD. The file has the version number embedded.
