Windows XP installation supplement files - ThinkPad General |
Each of the ThinkPad systems listed below will have some conflicts or problems when you install Microsoft Windows XP. This package contains supplement files to address the issues.
The following ThinkPad systems are supported: - ThinkPad 240, 240X, 240Z - ThinkPad 390, 390E, 390X - ThinkPad 570, 570E - ThinkPad 600, 600E, 600X - ThinkPad 770E, 770ED, 770X, 770Z - ThinkPad i Series 1200, 1300 - ThinkPad i Series 1400: only machine type 2621 and 2651 - ThinkPad i Series 1720, 1721, 1781 - ThinkPad A20m, A20p, A21e, A21m, A21p, A22e, A22m, A22p - ThinkPad A30, A30p, A31, A31p - ThinkPad R30, R31 - ThinkPad s30, S31 - ThinkPad T20, T21, T22, T23 - ThinkPad T30* - ThinkPad X20, X21, X22, X23, X24 - ThinkPad TransNote

Note: If you use the product Disk-to-disk or CD recovery option that shipped with your ThinkPad system to restore the Microsoft Windows XP preload environment, you do not need this package. This package is required when you install Windows XP without using the product recovery option.

CStateFlags.reg is supported on the following ThinkPad systems:
- ThinkPad 240X, 240Z

- ThinkPad A20m, A21m, A20p, A21p, A21e, A22m, A22p
- ThinkPad A22e Celeron Model, Pentium Model
- ThinkPad T20, T21, T22
- ThinkPad X20, X21
- ThinkPad TransNote
- ThinkPad s30, s31
- Start Windows XP
- Double-click CstateFlags.reg.
- Click yes to accept changes to the registry.
- Restart the ThinkPad system.
HackFlags.reg and RetryTO.reg is supported on the following ThinkPad systems:
- ThinkPad s30, s31
- ThinkPad i Series 1200/1300 Pentium Model
- Confirm BIOS level is latest.
- Start Windows XP with connect to Internet.
- Go to Windows Update and Pick Updates to Install.
- Select Driver Updates, install Intel Pentium III Processor, press the Add button.
- Click Review and install updates.
- Click the Install Now button.
- Click Accept to License Agreement, if you agree to the license agreement.
- Start downloading the files and installing them.
- Click OK to restart the system
- Double-click HackFlags.reg.
- Double-click RetryTO.reg.
- Restart the ThinkPad system.
ThinkPad 1200/1300 users:
- Set Portable/Laptop as power scheme
- Play any WAV file
- Intel SpeedStep feature is available if the music can be played without sound corruption
ThinkPad s30 users:
- Set Portable/Laptop as power scheme
- Run HyperTerminal and press the cancel button on "Connection Description" dialog box.
- Press any key and confirm that the status is "Connected" in the bottom left window.
- Intel SpeedStep feature is available if you can use mouse without any problem while "Connected".
CHGIRQ.reg is supported on the following ThinkPad systems:
- Start Windows XP
- Double-click CHGIRQ.reg.
- Click yes to accept changes to the registry.
- Restart the ThinkPad system.
RMREG.EXE is supported on the following ThinkPad systems upgrading from Windows NT 4.0:
- Confirm the ThinkPad utility does not install correctly.
- Uninstall any previous versions of ThinkPad Utility.
- Run RMREG.EXE.
- Install the new ThinkPad Utility..
IBMTPLCD.INF is supported on the following ThinkPad systems:
- ThinkPad 240X, 240Z
- ThinkPad 570E
- ThinkPad 600, 600E, 600X
- ThinkPad 770E/ED,770X,770Z
- ThinkPad i Series 1720, 1721, 1781
- ThinkPad A20m, A21m, A20p, A21p, A21e, A22m, A22p
- ThinkPad A22e Celeron Model, Pentium Model
- ThinkPad T20, T21, T22
- ThinkPad X20, X21
- ThinkPad TransNote
- ThinkPad s30, s31
Notes:
- Before installing, apply the latest video driver to the ThinkPad system.
- "xxxxx" which appear in the following instructions is Max Resolution of your panel.
- Right-click the desktop to open the Properties panel.
- Select the Settings button.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Select the Monitor tab and then Select Plug and Play Monitor.
- Click the Properties button.
- Select the Driver Tab and click the Update Driver button then, Hardware Update Wizard appears.
- Select Install from a list or specific location [Advanced] and click the Next button.
- Select Don't search, I will choose the driver to install and click the Next button.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Click the Browse button.
- Change the directory for \IBMTPLCD\.
- Select IBMTPLCD.INF, then click the Open button and the OK button.
- Check to be enabled Show compatible hardware on upper-left.
- Select the displayed model of ThinkPad IPS xxxxx LCD Panel or ThinkPad xxxxx LCD Panel.
- Click the Finish button and the Close button.
- Click the Color Management tab.
- Click the Add button and select an icm file of IBMTPIPS or IBMTPLCD in %Root%\system32\spool\drivers\color directory.
- Click the Add button and click OK.
