II. Installation instructions
To update the device driver and power management driver
Ethernet device driver
- Start Windows NT and log on with a user ID authorized as an administrator.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Click the Adapters tab.
- Select Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100)
- Click the Update button.
- Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box. (For example: C:\DRIVERS\WNT\ETHERNET\DRIVER)
- Click the Continue button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Ethernet Power Management driver (NDIS PM Interface)
- Start Windows NT and log on with a user ID authorized as an administrator.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Click the Services tab.
- Select NDIS PM Interface.
- Click the Update button.
- Specify the path to subdirectory PMDRIVER of the directory that contains the driver in the step 2 in Windows NT Setup dialog box. (For example: C:\DRIVERS\WNT\ETHERNET\PMDRIVER)
- Click the Continue button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
To perform a clean install of the device driver and power management driver
Ethernet device driver
- Start Windows NT and log on with a user ID authorized as an administrator.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- It displays Network Configuration dialog box if this is the first time to configure the Network. If not, go to step 21.
First Network Configuration
- Click the Yes button.
- Select Wired to the network.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Select from list button.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box. (For example: C:\DRIVERS\WNT\ETHERNET\DRIVER)
- Click the OK button.
- Select Intel(R) PRO Adapter.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Next button.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
- Follow the prompts for any Windows NT installation disks by typing the path to the directory that contains Windows NT files. (It is usually c:\i386 directory or Windows NT CD-ROM's x:\i386 directory.)
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
- Click the Finish button when the installation completes.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Add Ethernet to Network Configuration
- Click the Adapters tab.
- Click the Add button.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box. (For example: C:\DRIVERS\WNT\ETHERNET\DRIVER)
- Click the OK button.
- Select Intel(R) PRO Adapter.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Close button.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Ethernet Power Management driver (NDIS PM Interface)
- Start Windows NT and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Click the Protocols tab.
- Click the Add button.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Specify the path to subdirectory PMDRIVER of the directory that contains the driver in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box. (For example: C:\DRIVERS\WNT\ETHERNET\PMDRIVER)
- Click the OK button.
- Select NDIS PM Interface.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Determining which version is installed
- Start Windows NT.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Intel(R) PROSet II.
- Click the Network Driver tab.
- The File version will be displayed at Driver Information in the message box.
