To update the device driver and power management driver


Ethernet device driver

  1. Start Windows NT and log on with a user ID authorized as an administrator.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  4. Double-click the Network icon.
  5. Click the Adapters tab.
  6. Select Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection
  7. Click the Update button.
  8. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in the Insert Disk dialog box. (For example: C:\DRIVERS\WNT\ETHERNET\DRIVER)
  9. Click Continue.
  10. Click Close.
  11. Click Yes, when prompted to restart the computer.

Ethernet Power Management driver (NDIS PM Interface)

  1. Start Windows NT and log on with a user ID authorized as an administrator.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Network icon.
  4. Click the Services tab.
  5. Select NDIS PM Interface.
  6. Click the Update button.
  7. Specify the path to subdirectory PMDRIVER of the directory that contains the driver in the step 2 in Windows NT Setup dialog box. (For example: C:\DRIVERS\WNT\ETHERNET\PMDRIVER)
  8. Click the Continue button.
  9. Click the Close button.
  10. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.

To perform a clean install of the device driver and power management driver

Ethernet device driver

  1. Start Windows NT and log on with a user ID authorized as an administrator.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  4. Double-click the Network icon.
  5. It displays Network Configuration dialog box if this is the first time to configure the Network. If not, go to step 21.

    First Network Configuration
  6. Click the Yes button.
  7. Select Wired to the network.
  8. Click the Next button.
  9. Click the Select from list button.
  10. Click the Have Disk button.
  11. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box. (For example: C:\DRIVERS\WNT\ETHERNET\DRIVER)
  12. Click the OK button.
  13. Select Intel(R) PRO Adapter.
  14. Click the OK button.
  15. Click the Next button.
  16. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
  17. Follow the prompts for any Windows NT installation disks by typing the path to the directory that contains Windows NT files. (It is usually c:\i386 directory or Windows NT CD-ROM's x:\i386 directory.)
  18. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
  19. Click the Finish button when the installation completes.
  20. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.

Add Ethernet to Network Configuration

  1. Click the Adapters tab.
  2. Click the Add button.
  3. Click the Have Disk button.
  4. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box. (For example: C:\DRIVERS\WNT\ETHERNET\DRIVER)
  5. Click the OK button.
  6. Select Intel(R) PRO Adapter.
  7. Click the OK button.
  8. Click the Close button.
  9. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
  10. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.

Ethernet Power Management driver (NDIS PM Interface)

  1. Start Windows NT and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Network icon.
  4. Click the Protocols tab.
  5. Click the Add button.
  6. Click the Have Disk button.
  7. Specify the path to subdirectory PMDRIVER of the directory that contains the driver in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box. (For example: C:\DRIVERS\WNT\ETHERNET\PMDRIVER)
  8. Click the OK button.
  9. Select NDIS PM Interface.
  10. Click the OK button.
  11. Click the Close button.
  12. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.

Determining which version is installed

  1. Start Windows NT.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Intel(R) PROSet II.
  4. Click the Network Driver tab.
  5. The File version will be displayed at Driver Information in the message box.
