II. Installation instructions

NOTE: Remove any previously installed driver using the uninstall step in the next section. Service Pack 4 or later, must be installed on the system.

Install

1. Start Windows NT and log on with a user ID authorized as an administrator.
2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
3. Click Start, then click Run.
4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WNT\AUDIO\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.

Uninstall

1. Start Windows NT and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator.
2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
4. Click SoundMAX NT and then click Add/Remove. (A dialog box appears.)
5. Click Yes.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen.
7. Reboot the system to fully uninstall the drivers.

III. Determining which version is installed

1. Start Windows NT.
2. Click Start, select Find, then click Files or Folders.
3. Click the Name & Location tab.
4. In the Named: field, type SMNT40.sys.
5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:).
6. Click the Find Now button. Windows will now search your hard disk drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the audio driver is not installed.
7. In the Found part of the window, right-click the file SMNT40.sys located in \WINNT\SYSTEM32\ and select Properties.
8. Click the Version tab to view the driver version.
