This package provides the Modem driver for Microsoft Windows 2000/XP users.

The Modem driver enables or updates the modem function of ThinkPad AL modem or Intel PRO/100 SP mobile combo adapter of the following ThinkPad computers:

- ThinkPad 600X *
- ThinkPad A20m, A20p
- ThinkPad A21m, A21p, A21e
- ThinkPad A22m, A22p, A22e
- ThinkPad A30, A30p
- ThinkPad A31, A31p
- ThinkPad T20, T21, T22, T23
- ThinkPad X20, X21, X22, X23, X24
- ThinkPad TransNote

I. Summary of changes
Version 8.22

II. Installation instructions

Install

  1. Start Windows 2000/XP and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start and then click Run.
  4. In the Run dialog window, specify C:\DRIVERS\MDMLUC\SETUP.EXE and click OK.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen. If the Digital Signature Not Found error appears, click Yes to continue installing.
  6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.

Unattended install
Note:
This is for system administrators' use only.

  1. Start Windows 2000/XP and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start and then click Run.
  4. Type C:\DRIVERS\MDMLUC\SETUP.EXE -S, then click OK.
III. Uninstall instructions
Note: If you do not remove the modem hardware, Windows will detect the modem on the next boot.
  1. Start Windows 2000/XP and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. According to operating select one of the following two steps:
    • If Windows 2000; click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
    • If Windows XP; click Start and then click Control Panel.
  3. According to operating select one of the following two steps:
    • If Windows 2000; double-click Add/Remove Programs.
    • If Windows XP; single-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Select Lucent Win Modem
  5. Click Change/Remove.
  6. Click Yes in the confirmation window.
  7. When asked to restart the system, click Yes.

IV. Determining which version is installed

  1. Start Windows 2000/XP and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. According to operating select one of the following two steps:
    • If Windows 2000; click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
    • If Windows XP; click Start and then click Control Panel.
  3. According to operating select one of the following two steps:
    • If Windows 2000; double-click Phone and Modem Options.
    • If Windows XP; click Printers and Other Hardware, then click Phone and Modem Options. Or double-click Phone and Modem Options.
  4. Click the Modems tab.
  5. Select Lucent Win Modem and then click Properties.
  6. Select the Diagnostics tab and then click Query Modem.
  7. Check Command | Response window to verify the results of ATI3. The version of the driver installed is displayed.
