UltraNav driver for Windows NT 4.0 - ThinkPad R40, T30, T40/p, T41, T42, T43

This package provides the software support for the ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

This release supports the following systems:
- ThinkPad T30, T40, T41, T42(*1)
- ThinkPad T43(*1)(*2)
- ThinkPad R40

Notes:
- (*1) This package supports UltraNav model only. Do not install this driver on the other systems.
- (*2): Following T43 models are supported: 2668, 2669, 2678, 2679, 2686, 2687
- TrackPoint driver does not need to be installed on the UltraNav models.

I. Summary of changes
Version 7.5.17.9 (Certified)
  • (New) Support for ThinkPad T42 (UltraNav model).
  • (New) Support for ThinkPad T43 (UltraNav model).
  • (New) Support scrolling on the split windows of Microsoft Excel. (Need to click on the target split window before scrolling.)
  • (New) Support scrolling on Microsoft Outlook 2003.

II. Installation instructions
Note: ThinkPad Software Installer provides install and uninstall wizards for this package.

Uninstall for Windows NT 4.0
  1. Start Windows NT 4.0 and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  4. Select ThinkPad UltraNav Driver.
  5. Click Add/Remove.
  6. Click Yes.
  7. Click OK four times.
  8. Restart the system.

Installing for Windows NT 4.0
  1. Start Windows NT 4.0, and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start and then click Run.
  3. Click the Browse button.
  4. Select the folder where ThinkPad UltraNav Driver package is stored, and select setup.exe.
  5. Click the Open button.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Select a language when Choose Setup Language popup panel appears, and click OK.
  8. Click Next on the Welcome panel.
  9. Click Next on the Important information panel.
  10. Select the destination folder where ThinkPad UltraNav driver will be installed, and click Next.
  11. Click Next on Start Copying Files panel.
  12. Click Yes to create emergency repair diskette, or No to skip create.
  13. If emergency repair diskette was created, click OK two times, otherwise proceed to #15.
  14. Click Finish, and restart the system.

Unattended installing for Windows NT 4.0
Note: This is for system administrators' use only.
  1. Start Windows NT 4.0, and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start and then click Run.
  4. Type [Program Path]\setup -s -SMS and click OK. [Program Path] is the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2.

III. Determining which version is installed
  1. Start Windows NT.
  2. Click Start, select Find, and click Files or Folders.
  3. Click the Name & Location tab.
  4. In the Named: field, type SynTPFcs.dll.
  5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:).
  6. Click the Find Now button. Windows will now search your hard disk drive for that file. If the file is not found, then the UltraNav driver is not installed on your system.
  7. Right-click SynTPFcs.dll stored in C:\Winnt\System32 folder.
  8. Click Properties.
  9. Click Version.
  10. Check the File version.
