UltraNav driver for Windows 98/Me - ThinkPad R40, T30, T40, T41, T42

This package provides the software support for the ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device for Microsoft Windows 98/98 SE/Me.

This release supports the following system:
- ThinkPad R40(*3)
- ThinkPad T30(*1)(*2)
- ThinkPad T40, T41, T42(*1)(*3)


Notes:
*1: This package supports ThinkPad T30 UltraNav model only.
*2: Only the following T30 models support Windows Me:
2366/2367-x1x, x2x, x3x, x4x, x5x, A6x and A7x except for M1x, M2x, M3x, M4x and M5x
*3: Supports Windows 98 only

- The TrackPoint driver does not need to be installed on the UltraNav models.

I. Summary of changes
Version 7.5.17.9 (Certified)

  • (New) Support for ThinkPad T42 (UltraNav model).
  • (New) Support scrolling on the split windows of Microsoft Excel. (Click the target split window before scrolling.)
  • (New) Support scrolling on Microsoft Outlook 2003.
  • (Fix) Cannot uninstall the UltraNav driver correctly.
  • (Fix) Sometimes TrackPoint stops responding after hot docking or hot undocking.

II. Installation instructions
NOTE: ThinkPad Software Installer provides install and uninstall wizards for this package.
Uninstalling for Windows 98/98 SE/Me

  1. Start Windows 98/98 SE/Me.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  4. Select ThinkPad UltraNav Driver.
  5. Click Add/Remove.
  6. Click Yes.
  7. Click OK four times.
  8. Restart the system.

Installing for Windows 98/98 SE/Me

  1. Start Windows 98/98 SE/Me.
  2. Click Start and then click Run.
  3. Click the Browse button.
  4. Select the folder where ThinkPad UltraNav Driver package is stored.
  5. Select Setup.exe and then click the Open button.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Select a language when Choose Setup Language pop-up panel appears, and click OK.
  8. Click Next on the Welcome panel.
  9. Select the destination folder where ThinkPad UltraNav driver will be installed, and click Next.
  10. Click Next on the Start Copying Files panel.
  11. Click Finish and then restart the system.

Unattended installing for Windows 98/98 SE/Me
NOTE
: This is for system administrators' use only.

  1. Start Windows 98/98 SE/Me.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start and then click Run.
  4. Type [Program Path]\setup -s -SMS and click OK, where [Program Path] is the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2.

III. Determining which version is installed
Windows 98/98 SE

  1. Start Windows 98/ 98 SE.
  2. Click Start, point to Find, and click Files or Folders.
  3. Click the Name & Location tab.
  4. In the Named: field, type SynTPFcs.dll.
  5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:).
  6. Click the Find Now button. Windows will now search your hard disk drive for that file. If the file is not found, then the UltraNav driver is not installed on your system.
  7. Right click SynTPFcs.dll stored in C:\Windows\System folder.
  8. Click Properties.
  9. Click Version tab.
  10. Check the File version.
  • File Version: 6.2.11 25Apr02 is Version 6.2.11.6
  • File Version: 6.3.8 25Jun02 is Version 6.3.8.6
  • File Version: 6.7.3 20Aug02 is Version 6.7.3.4
  • File Version: 6.7.12 25Nov02 is Version 6.7.12.6
  • File Version: 7.2.3 29Jan03 is Version 7.2.3.4
  • File Version: 7.5.17.9 15Dec03 is Version 7.5.17.9

Windows Me:

  1. Start Windows Me.
  2. Click Start, point to Search, and click For Files or Folders.
  3. In the Search for files or folders Named: field, type SynTPFcs.dll.
  4. In the Look in: field, specify Local Disk (C:).
  5. Click the Search Now button. Windows will now search your hard disk drive for that file. If the file is not found, then the UltraNav driver is not installed on your system.
  6. Right click SynTPFcs.dll stored in the C:\Windows\System folder.
  7. Click Properties.
  8. Click Version tab.
  9. Check the File version.
