Update Install
- Start Windows 98.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click System icon.
- Click Device Manager tab.
- Click the + mark to expand Network adapters.
- Right-click "Intel(R) PRO/100VE Network Connection in Network adapters" and click Properties.
- Click Driver tab.
- Click Update Driver button.
- Click Next button in Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box.
- Select Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now.(Recommended).
- Click Next button.
- Select Specify a location: only.
- Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Specify a location:.
- Click Next button.
- Click Next button. The driver installation starts.
- Click Finish button when the installation completes.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Clean Install: (Add New Hardware Wizard) If this is the first boot of Windows 98 after installing the Intel MiniPCI Card in the computer, Windows 98 detects the card automatically. To install the device driver, follow the instructions below.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
- Start Windows 98.
- It displays Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box.
- Click Next button.
- Select Search for the best driver for your device. (recommended).
- Click Next button.
- Select Specify a location: only.
- Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 1 in Specify a location:.
- Click Next button.
- Click Next button. The driver installation starts.
- Click Finish button when the installation completes.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Clean Install: (PCI Ethernet Controller in Other devices) Windows 98 detected the PCI Ethernet Controller, but was not able to find the correct device driver. In this case, you will see Ethernet Controller in Other devices in Device Manager. To install the driver, follow the instructions below.
- Start Windows 98.
- If not yet, extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click System icon.
- Click Device Manager tab.
- Right-click PCI Ethernet Controller in Other devices and click Properties.
- Click Driver tab.
- Click Update Driver button.
- Click Next button in Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box.
- Select Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now.(recommended).
- Click Next button.
- Select Specify a location: only.
- Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Specify a location:
- Click Next button.
- Click Next button. The driver installation starts.

Installing PROSetII Utility
NOTE: Please install Etherner driver first.
- Start Windows.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, then click Run.
- Type C:\DRIVERS\W98\ETHERNET\PROSet2\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click the OK button.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
III. Determining which version is installed
- Start Windows 98.
- Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System icon.
- Click the Device Manager tab.
- Expand the Network adapters section.
- Double-click the Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection.
- Click the Driver tab.
- Click the Driver File details button.
- Highlight the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\E100BNT5.SYS. The file has the File version number embedded.
