Installation instructions
Windows 95
- Start Windows 95.
- Extract the Audio Features for Windows 95/98 onto the HDD.
- Click Start.
- Click Run.
- Specify the installation program SETUP.EXE with full path you extracted in the step 2 and click OK.
- Click the Uninstall Crystal Driver button at the pop-up window, and then select Shut Down. Re-start Windows 95.
- When Windows 95 detects Unknown Device, select Next button. It will then detect Crystal PnP Audio System CODEC. Press Finish button and then press OK button in the next dialog. Then you will be asked to specify the location of the Disk. Specify pathname in the step 2 in Copy files from: list and press OK button. The file copy starts.
- Windows 95 will now detect the PCI Multimedia Audio device. Press Next, then it will detect Crystal SoundFusion(tm) PCI Audio Accelerator. Press the Finish button. Then you'll be asked to specify the location of the Disk. Specify pathname in the step 2 in Copy files from: list and press OK button. It will begin copying files.
Windows 98
- Start Windows 98.
- Extract the Audio Features for Windows 95/98 into HDD.
- Click Start.
- Click Run.
- Specify the installation program SETUP.EXE with full path you extracted in the step 2 and click OK.
- Click the Uninstall Crystal Driver button at the pop-up window, and then select Shut Down. Re-start Windows 98.
- When Windows 98 detects Unknown Device, select Next button. It will default to Search for best driver for your device, press the Next button. This window should have search specify a location checked and specify path name in the step 2, press the Next button. It will then identify the device as a Crystal PnP Audio System CODEC with the location of the driver set to CWDAUDIO.INF, press the Next button. It will begin copying files. When coping completes, press the Finish button.
- Windows 98 will now detect the PCI Multimedia Audio device. Push the Next button. It will default to Search for best driver for your device, press the Next button. This window should have search Specify a location checked and specify path name in the step 2, press the Next button. It will then identify the device as a Crystal SoundFusion(tm) PCI Audio Accelerator with the location of the driver set to CWCAUDIO.INF, press the Next button. When copying completes, press the FINISH button. Note: After the installation, you should find the following drivers installed under Sound, Video, and Game Controllers in Device Manager. Joystick and MPU-401 may be missing depending upon system support:
- Crystal SoundFusion(tm) Game Device
- Crystal SoundFusion(tm) Joystick
- Crystal SoundFusion(tm) PCI Audio Accelerator
- Crystal SoundFusion(tm) Virtual MPU-401
How to determine what version is installed
- Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
- Double-Click System and click the Device Manager tab.
- Click Sound, Video and Game Controllers.
- Choose Crystal SoundFusion(tm) PCI Audio Accelerator and select the Properties button.
- Select the Driver tab, push the Driver File Details button, and select cwchwcrl.vxd.
- The File version column in File details shows the version 4.07.2884
