This package provides the Microsoft Windows 2000/XP Modem drivers for the IBM 10/100 EtherJet Mini PCI Adapter with 56K Modem (Mini PCI Combo Card).

The Ethernet drivers are available in a separate package.

This release supports the following systems:

- ThinkPad A21m, A21p, A21e (*1)
- ThinkPad A22m, A22p, A22e (*1)
- ThinkPad T20, T21(*1)
- ThinkPad X20 (*1)

NOTES:
*1: With "IBM 10/100 EtherJetMini PCI Adapter with 56K Modem" option.
This program is language independent and can be used with any language system.

I. Summary of changes
Version 2.00.3

II. Installation instructions

  1. Start Windows 2000 or XP and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, then click Run.
  4. In the Open field, type C:\DRIVERS\W2KXP\MODEM\SETUP.EXE to install the modem driver. Click the OK button to start the installation process. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.
III. Uninstalling the modem
  1. Start Windows 2000.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Phone and Modem Options icon.
  4. Click the Modems tab.
  5. Select Xircom MPCI+ Modem 56 WinGlobal and click the Remove button.
IV. Determining which version is installed
NOTE: If there is a letter of the alphabet in the version number, please check the date stamp of each file to determine which version is installed.
  1. Start Windows 2000 or XP.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double click the Phone and Modem Options icon.
  4. Click the Modems tab.
  5. Highlight the Xircom MPCI+ Modem 56 WinGlobal and click the Properties button.
  6. Click the Diagnostics tab, and click the Query Modem button.
  7. Look for the ATI3 command response. Under the Response column, you will find the version of the modem that is installed. For example, Xircom MPCI+ Modem 56 WinGlobal (Revision 2.00.3)

To check the date and time stamp of these files do the following:
For Windows 2000
  1. Start Windows 2000
  2. Click Start, select Search, then click Files or Folders.
  3. Click the Name & Location tab.
  4. In the Named: field, type the file name listed in the above table.
  5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:).
  6. Click the Find Now button.
    Windows will now search your hard drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system.
  7. In the Found part of the window, select the file name located in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32.
  8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of each file.

For Windows XP

  1. Start Windows XP
  2. Click Start, then click Search.
  3. Click All files and folders.
  4. In the All or part of the file name: field, type each file name.
  5. In the Look in: field, select C: drive.
  6. Click More Advanced Options, then check Search subfolders.
  7. Click the Search button. Windows will now search your hard disk drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system.
  8. In the Found part of the window, select the file name located in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32.
  9. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file.
