A separate package is required to enable the Ethernet function of the "10/100 Ethernet Mini PCI Adapter with 56K Modem (3Com)".

(Fix) Fix for low modem connect speeds.

- Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges.
- Extract the drivers onto the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, then click Run.
- In the Open field, type C:\DRIVERS\W2K\MODEM\MDMSETUP\SETUP.EXE and click OK. If you extracted the files to a different location specify that location instead.
- Click the Next button at the Welcome dialog screen.
- Leave the Yes, I want to restart my computer now selection checked and click Finish at the Setup Complete dialog screen.
- Allow the system to reboot. If you need to install the modem card, turn off the power to the system and install the Mini-PCI Combo card.
- If the modem is not automatically installed, click Next in the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog.
- Click Next with Search for a suitable driver radio button selected.
- Select Specify a Location and click Next.
- Enter C:\winnt\options\cabs in the dialog box and click OK.
- Click Next at the dialog that has found the driver (c:\winnt\options\cabs\wdhaibf.inf).
- Click Finish. The modem is now installed.
- Start Windows 2000.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Phone and Modem Options icon.
- Select the Modems tab.
- Select the 3Com Mini PCI 56K Modem and click the Properties button.
- Select the Diagnostics tab.
- Click the Query Modem button.
- Scroll down to where the ATI7 command is displayed. The driver version will be displayed.
