Overview

  • The High Rate Wireless LAN Gateway serves as the networking hub in small business and home office environments. In addition to enabling wireless clients and Ethernet wired clients to be networked together, its primary benefit is that it makes possible the sharing of a single cable or DSL account over all clients in the network.
  • The wireless technology used in this product is the popular IEEE 802.11b standard, which is finding broad acceptance and deployment in the corporate world. The beauty of having the High Rate Wireless LAN Gateway in the home is that the same 802.11b PC Card issued to a corporate employee can be used to provide work-at home network access with true mobility. Home access of a corporate network typically requires the use of virtual private networking software, which is provided by the employer (not included with this product).
  • The High Rate Wireless LAN Gateway offers the following features and benefits:
    • Integrated IEEE 802.11b access point -- WiFi-certified for interoperability compliance
    • Radio transmissions secured using 128-bit WEP encryption
    • Four-port 10/100 Ethernet switch provides high-performance wired LAN
    • Network Address Translation provides Internet sharing capability
    • Firewall for security from hackers
    • RJ-45 WAN connection for any Ethernet-connected cable or DSL modem
    • Simple browser-based setup
    • Full complement of front panel indicators provide status of LAN, wireless, and WAN connectivity
