SATA Power management driver for Windows 2000/XP - ThinkPad R52, T43, T43p, X41, X41 Tablet, X60s (Machine Type 2533, 2534)

This package provides the power management function for the hard drive (HD) & HD related circuitry for Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP.

The following ThinkPad systems are supported:
- ThinkPad R52
- ThinkPad T43, T43p
- ThinkPad X41, X41 Tablet
- ThinkPad X60s (Machine Type 2533/2534)

Note: This program is language independent and can be used with any language system.

Summary of changes
Version 1.03
  • (Fix) If a USB mouse is attached to the computer, the computer may stop with blue screen (INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR) while boot.

Version 1.02

  • (Fix) Solves a hard drive being slow due to change the transfer mode from UDMA-5 to PIO. (This will resume to the UDMA-5 mode at installation time)
    Note: Before installation, be sure to close all of the application programs. After installtion, be sure to reboot your ThinkPad.

Installation instructions
  1. Start Windows 2000/XP. Logon with a User ID of Administrator.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard drive.
  3. Click Start, then click Run.
  4. Type [Program Path]\SETUP, and click OK. Program Path is the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. The default Program Path is C:\DRIVERS\W2K\ISPM.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Uninstall instructions
Uninstall is supported by Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. You have to logon with the user ID authorized as an administrator on Windows 2000/XP.

  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. If Windows XP, Click Start, then click Control Panel.
    If Windows 2000, Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Select ThinkPad SATA Power Management Driver, and then click Change/Remove (or Add/Remove).
  5. Follow the instructions.

Determining which version is installed
Method 1
If you have the original extracted files, find the TPDISKPM.VER file. You can see the version information using a text editor.

Method 2
Check the date stamp of the TPDISKPM.SYS file under the SYSTEM32\DRIVERS directory. For example, 1:01 means Version 1.01.
