Installation instructions
  1. Start Windows XP and log on with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract the Synaptics Touch Pad files to the hard drive. When downloaded file is extracted in the local drive, it is located in C:\DRIVERS\TCHPSY directory by the default.
  3. Click Start, then click Run.
  4. In the Open field, type 'C:\DRIVERS\TCHPSY\SETUP.EXE'. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
  5. Click OK to start the installation process.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Unattended install
Note: This is for system administrators' use only.
  1. Start Windows XP, logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract the drivers to the hard drive.
  3. Click Start, then click Run.
  4. Type 'C:\DRIVERS\TCHPSY\SETUP.EXE -S'

Uninstallation instructions
  1. Start Windows XP, logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. Select Synaptics Pointing Device Driver then click Remove.

Determining which version is installed
  1. Right-click My Computer, then click Properties.
  2. Click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager.
  3. Click the + sign in front of the Mice and other pointing Devices category.
  4. Double-click Synaptics Pointing Device.
  5. Click the Driver tab. The version number will be displayed.
