Local Manageability Service and Serial Over LAN (Intel AMT 2.6) driver for Windows Vista, XP - ThinkPad T61, T61p, X61, X61s, X61 Tablet, X300, Reserve Edition

Applicable countries and regions
This package installs the following Active Management Technology (AMT) Manageability Engine components.

- Local Manageability Service (LMS)
- Serial Over LAN (SOL) driver
- User Notification Service (UNS)

The following operating systems are supported:

- Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit
- Microsoft Windows XP

The following systems are supported:

- ThinkPad T61, T61p
- ThinkPad X61, X61s, X61 Tablet, X300
- ThinkPad Reserve Edition(*1)

Notes:
*1: Supports Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit only.
- If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.
- AMT devices are hidden by default and you cannot install the AMT device drivers. If you need to enable AMT, contact your network administrator.

Installation instructions
  1. Logon to Windows Vista with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract this package by double-clicking the downloaded file.
    The default extract location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\AMT
  3. For Windows Vista, click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run...
    For Windows XP, click Start, then click Run...
  4. Specify "LMS_SOL\SETUP.EXE" with the full path name where you extracted the package in step 2, and click OK.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\AMT\LMS_SOL\SETUP.EXE
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. Click Finish to complete the installation and restart the system if necessary.

Determining which version is installed
Local Manageability Service (LMS) and User Notification Service (UNS):
  1. Right-click one of the following files in Windows Explorer.
    c:\Program Files\Intel\AMT\LMS.exe (LMS)
    c:\Program Files\Intel\AMT\UNS.exe (UNS)
  2. Click Properties.
  3. For Windows Vista, click the Details tab. The file version will be displayed.
    For Windows XP, click the Version tab. The file version will be displayed.

Determining which version is installed
Serial Over LAN (SOL) driver:
Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit:
  1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  3. Click System and Maintenance, then click System.
  4. Click Device Manager.
  5. Expand the Ports (COM &LPT) category.
  6. Double-click Intel(R) Active Management Technology - SOL (COMx).
  7. Click the Driver tab and the driver version will be displayed.

Windows XP:

  1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Right-click My Computer on the Desktop, then select Properties.
  3. Click the Hardware tab.
  4. Click Device Manager.
  5. Expand the Ports (COM &LPT) category.
  6. Double-click Intel(R) Active Management Technology - SOL (COMx).
  7. Click the Driver tab and the driver version will be displayed.
