If you are installing this driver on a system where the factory installed preload has been removed and a shrink wrap copy of Windows 2000 or XP has been installed, the Universal Audio Architecture High Definition Audio Class Driver (KB888111US) must be installed first.
Notes: If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.
- Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
- Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive.
The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\AUDIO.
- For Windows Vista: Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, then click Run...
For Windows XP: Click Start, then click Run...
- Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK.
Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\AUDIO\SETUP.EXE
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Click Finish to reboot the system to complete the installation.

- Click System, click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager.
- Click the + sign in front of the Sound, video and game controllers category.
- Double-click Conexant High Definition Audio.
- Click the Driver tab to display the driver version.
