Application Software limitations when upgrading to Windows Vista - Desktops

Windows Vista installation instructions

This document applies to any of the following systems that are labelled as Microsoft Windows Vista Capable or Premium Ready:

The following applications either prevent upgrade installation or cause serious compatibility problems after upgrading to Windows Vista. Some of them may not be prompted to be uninstalled in the early stage of the upgrade installation, but they are still required to be uninstalled before upgrading. After upgrading to Windows Vista, either find the new version of the application or alternative application that supports Windows Vista on the Lenovo Support & downloads Web site or the software vendor's Web site.

Note: Some of the following applications may not be part of your desktop preload.

• Symantec (Norton) AntiVirus
• Sonic DLA
• Lenovo System Migration Assistant
• Lenovo Rescue and Recovery
• Lenovo Rescue and Recovery with Rapid Restore Ultra
  
  

The following applications are not compatible with Windows Vista. It is recommended to uninstall them before upgrading to Windows Vista. You can upgrade to Windows Vista without uninstalling these applications, but you may encounter problems when trying to run them on Windows Vista. After upgrading to Windows Vista, either find the new version of the application or alternative application that supports Windows Vista on the Lenovo Support & downloads Web site.

The following applications are not compatible with Windows Vista. If you did not uninstall them before upgrading to Windows Vista, you may encounter problems while trying to run them. You can go to corresponding vendor Web site to download the new version that supports Windows Vista after upgrading to Windows Vista successfully.
