Ultrabay swap utility driver for Windows 95/98 - ThinkPad General

The Utility Driver Disk III for Windows 95/98/98 SE provide the following utility programs for Microsoft Windows 95 with APM and Microsoft Windows 98/98 SE with APM:
- ThinkPad Ultrabay 2000 Hot/Warm Swap Driver

This release supports the following systems:
- ThinkPad A20m, A20p, A21m, A21p, A22m, A22p, A30, A30p, A31, A31p
- ThinkPad T20, T21, T22, T23, T30, T40, T41, T42
- ThinkPad X30(*1)/X31(*1)
- ThinkPad R40

NOTE *1 Windows 95 is not supported.

I. Summary of changes

II. Installation instructions
Notes:
  • The ThinkPad Software Installer provides install and uninstall wizards for this package.
  • If a previous version is already installed, uninstall it first using Add/Remove Programs.

To install this package manually:

  1. If a previous version is already installed, uninstall it prior to update. Use Add/Remove programs located in the Control Panel.
  2. Start Windows 95/98 (APM).
  3. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  4. Double-click Add New Hardware.
  5. Select Next, and then click No.
  6. Select Other devices in the device selection menu.
  7. Click Have Disk.
  8. Select ThinkPad Ultrabay 2000 Hot/Warm Swap Driver with the correct path and then click Next.
  9. Click Finish to restart the operating system.  

III. Determining which version is installed
  1. Start Windows 95/98.
  2. Click Start, select Find, and click Files or Folders.
  3. Click the Name & Location tab.
  4. In the Named: field, type in IBMBAY2.VXD.
  5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:).
  6. Click the Find Now button.
    Windows will now search your hard disk drive for ibmbay2.vxd. If the file is not found, then the Swap Driver Utility is not installed on your system.
  7. In the Found part of the window, select the IBMBAY2.VXD file located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.
  8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column. The time stamp on the file will be the version number: IBMBAY2.VXD 11,266 01-27-00 01:00a - is version 1.00.
