*The audio driver enables or updates the audio function of the following ThinkPad computers:
- ThinkPad A20m, A20p
- ThinkPad A21m, A21p
- ThinkPad A22e (Pentium models only)
- ThinkPad A22m, A22p
- ThinkPad T20, T21, T22

II. Installation instructions

Note: The Windows operating system CD, Service Pack CD, or its equivalent image might be required during installation, depending on your system environment.

  1. Log on to the ThinkPad system as an administrator.
  2. Click Start, select Programs, select Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
    1. To install/update the driver, type the following, where the X: is the full path of the driver location:
      X:CRYSETUP -S
      For example: C:\DRIVERS\W2K\AUDIO\CRYSETUP -S
    2. Press the Enter key. The installation will be completed without any notification in about 1 minute.

Note:
During installation the following devices should be installed:

  • Crystal Sound Fusion
  • Crystal Sound Fusion WDM Interface

Note: You should check and select your MIDI playback device preference after the installation and reboot. Select your preference of Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth or the SoundFusion HW Wavetable Synth. The SoundFusion HW Wavetable Synth requires less CPU utilization.

  1. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Sounds and Multimedia and select the Audio tab.
  3. At MIDI Music Playback Preferred device:, click the pull-down arrow to see other choices, and select your preference of Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth or the SoundFusion HW Wavetable Synth.

III. Determining which version is installed

  1. Right-click the My Computer icon.
  2. Select Manage.
  3. Click Device Manager.
  4. Click Sound, Video and game controllers.
  5. Confirm the following Crystal devices:
    • Crystal Sound Fusion
    • Crystal Sound Fusion WDM Interface
  6. Right-click the devices listed in step 5 and select Properties.
  7. Select the the Driver tab, the driver version should be 5.12.01.3037.
