This package provides the Display Driver (Intel 852GM/GME/855GM/GME) for Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP.
This package supports the Display Driver for the following systems: - ThinkPad R51 (Machine Type 2883, 2887, 2888, 2889, 2894 and 2895) * - ThinkPad X40 * Machine Type 1829, 1830, 1831 and 1836 of the ThinkPad R51 family are not supported.
Notes: - For ThinkPad R51 systems, update the BIOS to version 1.07 or higher, prior to updating the display driver. - For ThinkPad X40 systems, update the BIOS to version 1.42 or higher, prior to updating the display driver. - This program is language independent and can be used with any language system. |

(New) Due to specification changes by Intel, from the version 6.14.10.3943 of display driver, support for 32 bit color depth was dropped in the following screen settings
- 2048x1536 screen resolution
- 1600x1200 screen resolution with over 100Hz of screen refresh rate.
To use the 32 bit color depth in the above screen settings, do not update the display driver and remain to use the old versions (6.14.10.3879 or lower).
- (New) Support for ThinkPad X40.
- (Fix) After creating a new scheme of extended desktop with Presentation Director at the first time, an error message appears on the screen.
- (Fix) The extended desktop function may not work in high resolution screen mode.
- (Fix) Screen scroll function may not work correctly on the LCD if both the LCD and external display are enabled and have high resolution screens.
- (Fix) Some DVD titles are not played back smoothly.
- (Fix) DVD titles may not be played back on the extended desktop screen.

Notes:
- ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/uninstall wizard for this package.

Before updating the display driver, confirm the System BIOS level first. If you install the display driver with a back level System BIOS, it will cause problems with the 3D Screen saver.
- Start Microsoft Windows 2000/XP, logon with a User ID of Administrator.
- Extract this package onto the hard drive.
- Click Start, then click Run.
- Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DISPLAY\SETUP in the Open box and click OK.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Click Finish to reboot the system and complete the installation.
This is for system administrators' use only.
- Start Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges.
- Extract the drivers to the hard drive.
- Click Start and then click Run.
- Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DISPLAY\SETUP -S -SMS in the Open box and click OK. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Start Windows 2000.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Display icon.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Select the "Intel Graphics Technology" tab. The graphics driver version should be listed on this screen.
- Start Windows XP.
- Click Start and then Control Panel.
- Click Appearance and Themes.
- Click the Display icon.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Click the Adapter tab.
- Click the Properties button.
- Click the Driver tab. The version number will be displayed.
- The power management function of video,"Dual Frequency Graphics Technology", is always disabled.

- The supported maximum refresh rate of the external display is 100Hz.
- When you create a profile for the system with the external display attached with using Presentation Director program, attach the external display to the system and enable it before creating the profile.
