Message Center Plus - Desktops / Notebooks

This package installs Message Center Plus, which alerts you when conditions arise on your computer that require your attention.
Note:
- Beginning August 2009, all 3000 family systems (desktops and notebooks) will be categorized as Value Line. The affected systems will be renamed from 3000 to Lenovo. |

Note:
Beginning August 2009, all 3000 family systems (desktops and notebooks) will be categorized as Value Line. The affected systems will be renamed from 3000 to Lenovo.
This package applies to the following systems:
- All ThinkCentre systems
- All ThinkPad systems
- All Value Line systems
For laptops only: Message Center Plus relies on ThinkPad Power Manager to assess your laptop's battery health and alert you when you need to replace your battery. To receive these alerts, you must install ThinkPad Power Manager.
Notes:
Message Center Plus disables certain features of Message Center. After installing Message Center Plus:
- Message Center will no longer be launched automatically when Windows starts.
- The Message Center icon will no longer appear in the system notification area.
- The link to Message Center will be removed from the Start menu.
- You can still view Message Center messages by manually launching the Message Center executable from the installation folder, for example: "C:\Program Files\ThinkVantage\AMSG\Amsg.exe" /view
Manual Install
- Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges.
- Extract this package onto the hard drive.
- Click 'Start', and click 'Run...' (Windows XP(R)).
- Type path\mcpsetup.exe (where path\ is the extract folder)
- Click OK.
- Follow the instructions on the screen
Unattended Install
Note: This is for system administrators' use only.
- Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and expand the files.
- At the command line, execute mcpsetup.exe with the /S /v/qn options. For example: mcpsetup /S /v/qn
Windows Vista:
- You must be logged on with administrative privileges.
- Click Start button
- Click Control Panel
- Click Uninstall a program. You will see Uninstall or change a program window.
- Click Message Center Plus
- Click Uninstall/Change.
- Click Continue on User Account Control
- Follow the instructions on the screen
Windows XP:
- You must be logged on with administrative privileges.
- Click Start, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click Message Center Plus, then click Change/Remove (or Add/Remove).
- Select Remove or OK, then click Next or OK.
- Follow the instructions on the screen
Windows Vista:
- Click Start button
- Click Control Panel.
- Click Uninstall a program. You will see Uninstall or change a program window.
- Select Message Center Plus.
- Click Organize, click Layout, then select Details Pane (Details Pane might be already selected). You will see the version information on the pane below (make sure window is wide enough to show all information).
- Close the Uninstall or change a program window
Windows XP:
- Click Start button
- Click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click Change or Remove Programs
- Select Message Center Plus
- Click the Click here for support information link. You will see the version information on the screen.
- Close Add/Remove Programs
