Installation instructions

System Requirements:

  • Ericsson WWAN
  • AT&T 3G Broadband Activated SIM with SMS Capability
  • SIM must have MSISDN populated with the Subscriber Phone Number
  • Windows XP and Vista 32 bit
  • Systems we will support: R400, R500, T400, T500, W500, X200, X200s, X301
  • BIOS Update Required
  • Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1

Manual Update

  1. Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard drive.
  3. Click Start, and click Run... (Windows XP).
  4. Type [path]\ ConstantSecureSetup_v1.2.6.exe (where [path] is extract folder)
  5. Click OK.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Uninstallation Instructions

Windows Vista:

  1. You must be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start button
  3. Click Control Panel.
  4. Click Uninstall a program. You will see Uninstall or change a program window.
  5. Click ConstantSecure Remote Disable
  6. Click Uninstall/Change.
  7. Click Continue on User Account Control
  8. Follow the instructions on the screen

Windows XP

  1. You must be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Click ConstantSecure Remote Disable, then click Change/Remove (or Add/Remove).
  5. Select Remove or OK, then click Next or OK.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen

Considerations and product limitations:

Symptom
Solution
English Only Product. Application is only available in English. None at this time
SMS Lock Messages not being processed while either the Access Connections or Remote Disable user interfaces are open Make sure that both the Access Connectons and Remote Disable user interfaces are closed, while trying to send a lock message to your system from your phone.
System locks at each boot due to PIN enabled on SIM PIN enablement not supported on Remote Disable. User to remove PIN.
If Leave WWAN card on when system is off check box is not selected, the BIOS screen is displayed longer. None at this time
Enabling Leave WWAN card on when system is off will result in battery drain when the system is off. None at this time
WWAN LED on X301 will not turn on when activated, while system is off or in sleep state. None at this time. Therefore you may have activated WWAN, but no physical indicator present
During installation, application may incorrectly report the status of WWAN as not activated. Upon launching the application, the true status of the WWAN will show, as will the the Mobile Broadband Connect application
If WWAN radio is off, application may incorrectly report the status of WWAN as not activated. Turn on WWAN radio using Mobile Broadband Connect application or Fn+F5 hotkey.
Some settings are not working It is recommended to properly save all settings you must close the application.
During the setup of this application you may receive the following message; The BIOS settings for ConstantSecure may be disabled or BIOS of your computer is not compatible with ConstantSecure. You will not be able to install ConstantSecure at this time.

a) Update the supported ConstantSecure Remote Disable BIOS
b) Select Enabled for Remote Disable Module Activation setting under Security => Anti-Theft => ConstantSecure in the BIOS setup.
